People thought I was crazy when I started law school. I was a leader in the technology industry and already successful in my career. I originally started law school to advance my career in technology, to help me with negotiating and navigating in my executive world.
Then, my world came crashing down. In my first year of law school, I was diagnosed with cancer. I started thinking about what would happen to my loved ones if I were to die. What would happen to my family? My dogs? My house? Would the people I loved really know the things I wanted them to know about me and how I felt about them? As I fought through surgery and treatment, I realized that I wanted to help people avoid these unsettling feelings I was having. I wanted to help people plan ahead so that they wouldn’t be wondering and scrambling like I was when something unthinkable was happening to me.
I always thought estate planning was like you see in the movies, with an old lawyer with mahogany furniture and tapestry carpets in his office reading a will to the family that says that dad left Joey a million dollars and Sally a wedding ring. I thought estate planning sounded like it was something for the wealthy, but after my experiences fighting through cancer, it dawned on me.
Everyone needs estate planning. And the process should include more than passing on your things and money. It should also pass on your values and ideals.
Since opening my firm, I have been blessed to expand my areas of practice to take on other areas all with the goal in mind of helping the family unit. I am a trusted advisor to my clients. I help clients navigate tough experiences like divorce, custody, obtaining guardianship of a loved one who can no longer make decisions for themselves, and the loss of a loved one.
I make sure that my clients can count on me to ensure that everything is taken care of so their families can have the peace of mind knowing that no matter what happens, their values, ideals, and goals are communicated and their wishes are followed.
My firm will take care of you from the moment we set up your appointment and see to it that you and your family are in the best of care. We will be there to ensure that as the law, your life, and your family changes, your legal needs are taken care of. As a cancer survivor, a mom, and a business owner, I truly understand these challenges. Rest assured, I will be your lawyer for life.
During the traditional experience, you’ll go in and meet with a lawyer who will often make things seem very complicated and confusing. You’ll have a good idea your lawyer is smart and seems to know what she’s doing, so you’ll nod and answer questions, as if you understand everything. Because you want to do the right thing for your family and for your business, you’ll have the lawyer prepare documents for you and you’ll sign the documents, feeling relieved you got THAT taken care of.
Our clients have a far different experience. We realize that every one of our clients have different objectives. We take great pride in giving each of our clients individualized representation, and laying out all the possible outcomes of a case. No one case is the same as the next, and we are dedicated to helping you understand the laws that affect your particular case.
